Publishing on the Rocks

February 24, 2013

As some of you will know, my wife Vivienne Tuffnell is a fiction writer and a good one too (not that I’m biased at all!). I am therefore all too well aware of the dire state of the publishing industry with the main publishers and bookshops conspiring to kill the joy of the written word. I also know the contempt with which the author of a book is treated despite them being the creative talent that is the life blood of this industry. Having reached the point where I can no longer face going into a bookshop only to find that it contains nothing new for me to read; I now avoid all but a handful of independent bookshops and Amazon. Given that I already feel like this I was surprised to be  shocked to read of the treatment of mainstream authors in the following blog article:

I can only pray for the situation to improve and give thanks for the likes of Amazon, which for profit, offer authors a way around the myopia of the big publishers.
